Handpoke Tattoo

"Why Tattoo's?" my friend asked me, as she looked at my first skin canvas. She was right to ask. It seems a giant leap for someone who studied nursing at University, but was it? "Nursing involves needles, I already love art, and I guess it's kind of like my pyrography, but on people?" I replied. She nodded at the realisation it wasn't too far fetched, especially for me. But it did make me look deeper into myself and the answer to that question...

I've always loved symbolism, I drew and painted all my anatomical diagrams while studying during University. The more I learn about Traditional Handpoke Tattoo, the more I find out how it is used by many cultures, not only as a form of expression, but as a form of medicine and therapy (search Otzi the Iceman for an explanation).

So why Tattoos? Because it's the next right step in my journey.
